MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning)

The MEAL division exists to help control the quality of our work with the people we help.

It enables us to collect and analyze data gathered by our program teams (and thanks to our communities), which informs us about the quality and risks associated with our projects. What’s more, the use of this analyzed data feeds into the changes we wish to implement in each mission, and into strategic decision-making to improve our interventions. Accountability to the people we support is essential. In order to maintain the transparency and effectiveness of our activities, the MEAL teams set up robust, reliable and secure accountability systems. MEAL officers also support other departments in their data management, management of their reports, complaints management, etc.

The MEAL expert plays a key role in the technical monitoring of activities, in close collaboration with the other technical coordinators, as well as in the development of Première Urgence Internationale projects and strategies. He also provides with qualitative reports and data for our donors.

The MEAL team has grown considerably in recent years, and today includes a MEAL officer and a Program data manager at head office, who supervise and support the work of a large number of MEAL staff in the field, whether at coordination or base level.
