Food security and Livelihoods
Première Urgence Internationale's Food Security and Livelihoods unit is made up of a multi-disciplinary team, which covers several areas of intervention such as protection, food security, water and sanitation, cash transfers and the environment. The unit’s challenge is to adapt to each context and its particular economy, in order to provide answers to people in need and enable them to revive their livelihoods.
The team of technical advisors works collaboratively to manage emergency situations, strengthen existing systems and build long-term resilience. They also aim to establish the organization as an indispensable player in these fields, and to turn the staff in these departments into specialized technicians.
Protection focuses on vulnerable people affected by conflict, violence, climate hazards, etc.
Our water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) advisors work regularly with their health and nutrition counterparts, as expertise is often interlinked for projects to support health centers, renovate shelters, rehabilitate water systems, etc.
Cash transfers can be an effective way of providing rapid, dignified assistance. They can enable people to meet their basic needs or re-establish their livelihoods.
Last but not least, Première Urgence Internationale is gradually taking on environmental issues by setting up a specific unit dedicated to this subject.
Required skills:
Experience or training in one of our areas of expertise
Humanitarian field experience, if possible in complex and unstable contexts
Enthusiasm for humanitarian issues: resilience, protection, access to services and resources
Flexibility and adaptability
